The Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana will celebrate the fourth annual Red Mass on Monday, October 7, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church in Zionsville at 5:30 pm. All government officials (federal, state, local levels, executive, legislative, judicial branches), attorneys, paralegals, law students and their spouses are cordially invited to attend. One does not have to be Catholic to join us in prayer and fellowship for the legal community.
The tradition of the Red Mass was begun by Pope Innocent IV in 1243 for the Ecclesial Judical Court asking the invocation of the Holy Spirit as a source of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude and strength for the coming term of the court. The color red signifies the Holy Spirit and martyrdom. St. Thomas More is the patron saint of lawyers.

The Little Sisters of the Poor continue the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan. Their Mission is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself. Please prayerfully consider supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor in their Mission. Your generosity allows you to walk shoulder to shoulder with the Little Sisters of the Poor, co-creating a better tomorrow for our elderly poor. Your prayers and support for the Little Sisters of the Poor are deeply appreciated. You can read more about their home for the elderly or make a donation online at http://www.littlesistersofthepoorindianapolis.org. Thank you and God Bless you!
Be a friend to someone in need!
Are you looking for a way to be more involved in your community and live out your faith? Do you enjoy meeting new people and listening to their stories? Organizing? Running an errand for someone? Widows and widowers, isolated elderly neighbors, and weary caregivers who live around us need your helping hand during an often difficult season. Often just 1 hour a week is all that’s needed to make a difference in someone’s life and it could make a difference in your life, too!
Some current volunteer opportunities:
- Transportation for elderly who are unable to drive
- Mowing/Yardwork for frail neighbors
- Minor Home Repairs
- Light House Cleaning/Organizing for aging community members
- Visiting and Companionship for isolated seniors
- Sitting with a caregiver’s loved one so the caregiver can take a needed break
You can bring God’s love and light to a local senior who feels alone. Great opportunity for your family, too! Contact our office at (765) 423-1879 or email@example.com by July 30th to attend our monthly training class.
Could God be calling YOU? We’re looking for people to help teach or promote NFP in their area. Learning to teach or promote NFP is easier than you might think! Consider helping to spread the Good News about NFP. For more information contact Susan Hoefer, Diocesan NFP Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org
