Coordinator of Youth Formation
- Summary: To provide vision, support, and initiative to programs that offer the opportunity for children and family religious education and faith formation as part of the overall scope of Evangelization.
Essential Duties:
1. Coordinate and direct an array of religious education programs (including those offered for parents); make recommendations and offer alternate solutions to youth faith programs or ministries as deemed necessary.
2. Direct and resource programs of religious education and faith formation for children.
3. Recruit, train and support volunteers; be responsible for evaluating quality catechists for effective task completion.
4. Present to parents as needed at faith formation meetings
5. Plan, organize, and supervise the OCIA program as adapted for Children.
6. Plan and or participate in children’s religious retreats and continuing education programs.
7. Aid in the preparation for liturgies for various rites and coordinate practices.
8. Research and prepare child faith formation opportunities.
9. Monitor the program budget annually and monitor on a regular basis.
10. Seek to find ways to increase involvement in wider (secular) community outreach.
11. Establish an effective working relationship with staff, parishioners, and parish councils.
12. Plan and implement annual Vacation Bible School program
13. Participate in parish diocesan, deanery, and parish staff meetings, coordinating catechetical ministry with other ministries.
14. Promote spirituality, prayer, and worship among children, catechists and families.
15. Prepare materials and set up meetings, retreats, programs, classes, and other events and programs for faith formation ministries.
16. Monitor and manage adherence to the Safe Environment protocol, including certifications for the parish catechists working with children.
17. Maintain records of participation in catechetical programs and celebrations of sacrament.Other Duties:
